Mixing It Up with Inspiro Tequila’s Fabulous Female Mixologist: Amanda Arulpragasam, PhD

At Inspiro Tequila, we continue to show our support of women by showcasing female mixologists every month in our Mixing It Up with Inspiro Tequila series. These women are the creators behind our incredibly delicious cocktails.

This month we are featuring Dr. Amanda Arulpragasam, a mixologist from Providence, Rhode Island. Continue reading to learn about Amanda’s mixology journey and the beautiful Inspiro Tequila cocktail she crafted!

Spotlight on Dr. Amanda Arulpragasam

Amanda works as a clinical psychologist with a background in neuroscience. When she’s not busy seeing patients or conducting research, Amanda likes to host parties for friends and family. She’s “always loved getting together to enjoy excellent food, thought-provoking conversation, and delicious cocktails, of course!”

Amanda discovered a love for cocktail technique and flavor experimentation during the start of the pandemic. She said, “My interest in cocktail creation really took off as I was no longer able to go out to cocktail bars and restaurants. Since then, I’ve been pushing myself to experiment with more flavor combinations to come up with delicious concoctions.”

Amanda features her cocktail creations on Pinch Purrfect. Amanda enjoys cocktail and food photography and styling as demonstrated by the fantastic cocktail photos on Pinch Purrfect.

Amanda constantly finds new cocktail inspirations from her friends and family by creating drinks using their favorite flavors. Additionally, Amanda is inspired by her "drinkstagram friends who create beautiful, interesting and complex creations" who have supported her since she started sharing her cocktails on Instagram.

Amanda’s Inspiro Tequila Cocktail

Amanda’s inspiration for her Inspiro Tequila cocktail comes from fresh, seasonal summer ingredients. “This simple, 4-ingredient cocktail highlights sweet watermelon while still letting the flavors of Inspiro Tequila shine through,” Amanda said. “This is my new go-to cocktail for all those summer BBQs and outdoor cocktail parties.”

La Sandía

INGREDIENTS:

2 oz Inspiro Tequila
2 oz fresh watermelon juice
3/4 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz agave
sugar and chili lime salt, to rim

DIRECTIONS:

Chill a coupe glass in the freezer.
Meanwhile, add all ingredients with ice to the cocktail shaker. Shake until cold.
Rim chilled coupe with sugar and chili lime salt.
Strain the cocktail into the glass and enjoy!
