Spotlight on Cheyenne Fountaine

Cheyenne Fountaine is a Chicago-based mixologist who transitioned from a traditional bartender to a cocktail creator. She honed her cocktail-making skills with the help of several mentors who shaped her into a “hardworking, knowledgeable, and hospitable” mixologist. From there, she took her love for mixology and turned to Instagram. Fountaine found an amazing global community with the same love for craft cocktails. Fountaine now uses social media to share her talents and cocktails both behind and across the bar. 

Fountaine says she’s inspired to create cocktails because of “the ability to be creative and experiment with any flavors. It’s really fun to use your imagination and see how far you can push the boundaries.”

Fountaine’s inspiration doesn’t stop at cocktails. She is also inspired by the women around her with some special attention to women she works with behind the bar. Fountaine says, “Every single day I am inspired by the awesome, hardworking women I am surrounded by. They inspire me to be better on all levels and keep reaching for more. Special industry shout out to Rachelle Reynozo, Hannah Griffith, Crystal Rohan, and Ali Kim.” 

Fountaine’s Inspiro Tequila Cocktail

Fountaine says springtime and bright flavors from the garden influenced her Inspiro Tequila cocktail, the Inspiro Refreshing Spritz. Fountaine says, “I wanted flavors that would highlight the tequila without overpowering it.”

Inspiro Refreshing Spritz

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 ½ oz Inspiro Tequila
• ¾ oz Twisted Alchemy lime juice
• ½ oz cucumber mint simple syrup
• 1 oz soda water
• Garnish with a mint sprig

Cucumber Mint Syrup:

• 1 cup water
• 1 cup Stevia
• 1 cucumber chopped
• Handful of mint leaves 

DIRECTIONS:

• To make the Cucumber Mint Syrup: Bring water and sugar to a boil in a pot. Add chopped cucumber and mint leaves. Cover and let sit for 5 minutes. Strain out and discard cucumber and mint leaves from the syrup. Store syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month.
• To make the cocktail: Add Inspiro Tequila, lime juice, and cucumber mint simple syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
• Shake vigorously and pour into a wine glass with ice.
• Top with soda water and garnish with a mint sprig.
